My GTS upgrade

I really meant to write about this sooner, but I've had a lot going on recently. I've purchased two new vehicles in the span of a few weeks. A new red Mini Cooper (with Union Jack on the roof of course) and a new Black GTS. More about the Mini in another post.

Although I have not spoken about it at all here on the blog, I had been planning on upgrading from my ET4 and purchasing a GTS for almost a year. I originally decided to make this purchase on May 20th, which is the one year anniversary of my accident.  However, due to some logistical issues, I ended up picking up the bike on Friday, earlier than expected. Not that this is a terrible thing, mind you.

As I mentioned, the color of the new bike is black. I must admit that I am not thrilled with the color choices that Vespa has to offer for the GTS. They are very limited, especially when compared to the full range of colors in the LX. Having driven an alabaster ET4 for 3 years I will miss making heads turn. I am intent on doing quite a bit of customization to make the bike stand out. One of the key things I will be doing is changing the seat. It is a tan that is entirely too light for the black bike. I will be getting a brown seat and will also add other brown accents along with a set of crash bars as well.

I have been excited to get into a GTS ever since I read about it when it was only in Europe. The digital display alone made me drool. Aside from that, the promise of better shocks & fuel injection were icing on the cake!

Last year Vespa gave me a loaner GT to drive for 3 weeks so that I could compare the GT to the ET4, which I wrote about here. In my next blog entry I will compare the GTS to the GT. I will also hopefully have some pictures to go along with the post.
